ooVoo is a popular free video sharing and IM client that allows users to have video conversations with each other on a variety of platforms. It started as a simple computer-to-computer video sharing client that required a webcam, but is now available on a variety of smartphones and tablet computers such as Androids, iPhones, and iPads. ooVoo allows users to implement video effects such as morphing and blurring during video conversations, supports up to six persons in each conversation, and can handle video quality of up to 2 megapixels.

ooVoo For Mac

Although ooVoo is not yet available for Linux, it is available for Windows, Mac, Android, and iPhones. Users can download ooVoo For Mac by clicking here and selecting the large “Free Download” button at either the top or bottom of the page. ooVoo For Mac includes all of the same features as ooVoo For Windows and looks exactly the same.

Advantages/Disadvantages

ooVoo is advantageous because it can support many users in the same video conversation and allows them to arrange all of their video conference contacts in a vertical sidebar at the side of their screen in order to see all of these contacts simultaneously.

ooVoo also allows users to place links to their profile in blogs, webpages, or social networking sites so that other users can easily add them to their contacts. However, users have to create an account to use ooVoo and the program automatically adds itself to the user’s startup items without permission.
