Onyx is a free maintenance software that is specifically designed for Mac OS X. Onyx allows Mac users to maintain their software and devices from one convenient user interface. For example, Onyx allows users to delete cumbersome files and programs, run maintenance programs, configure parameters of Apple applications, and verify the integrity of startup files and systems.

Onyx can also manage log files and notifications about Apple devices, delete caches of old webpages, and display information on the user interface that relates to the progress of running applications as well as the current position within a file or folder. Onyx is free software and can be downloaded here.

Features

Like the System Tools in Windows, Onyx provides Mac users with the ability to delete unnecessary files, browser history, cookies, and temporary files, as well as the ability to manage any installed programs, whether they are running or not.

Onyx also allows Mac users to scan for viruses and programs that are not working properly, verify and correct the integrity of core system files, and even automate maintenance procedures.

Advantages/Disadvantages

Onyx is a highly advantageous program for any Mac user to have and is comparable to the capabilities of Advanced SystemCare. While Onyx does not include every possible solution for Mac related errors, it allows Mac users to correct the majority of situations and maintain the integrity of daily functions.
