Printing envelopes is neater than writing the individual envelope out, faster if there are many envelopes needed, and cheaper than having to buy labels to put on each envelope. Because of this, often times, it is incredibly advantageous to simply print the envelopes. To do it, all you need is Microsoft Word, the envelope size of your choice and then a printer that can handle the different sized paper.

In Microsoft Word, click the mailings tab near the top. Then, all the way to the left, there is a button called envelope. Click this and you will be able to type in both a delivery address as well as the return address. This will have successfully created one envelope. However, this doesn't help if you need to print fifteen, twenty or even more envelopes. Therefore, click the Select Recipients button and then click "Type List." Here, you can go in and add an entire list of addresses. This is an effective tool because it cuts down the time needed to use that list a second or third time.

Once you have added all the names to the list, click the Start Mail Merge. Select envelopes and then you'll be able to import all of the names and addresses from the list to their own separate envelopes. Set up your return address and the envelopes will be ready to be printed. An interesting note is that the list you typed can be used for many different things–mailers, envelopes and labels to name a few.

Different printers require the envelopes be put into the feed in a different way. However, most of the time, sliding them in long ways prints the right way. Once the envelopes are in, make sure that the printer knows that it is printing envelopes and then hit print. It will go through each envelope and print it out. Once they are done, make sure that you save your list so it can be accessed in the future.
