Making a music video can be broken up into three steps. The planning, the filming and the producing. Each step is important. Some would think that the filming takes the most time, but in actuality, planning is the most time costly step because every little detail has to be ready. If there is something missing, the music video might be lacking and that wouldn’t be beneficial.

Creating the Music Video

Determine what song you’re going to be using and what set you want. There are pluses and minuses to all sets. If you’re making it outside, you have natural light: the sun. However, this can also weaken your production if the sun is too bright or if clouds appear during a shoot. You have less control when it comes to nature. Determine exactly what the set is going to be.

On top of that, pick everyone you want to be in the song. The more people in it, the more detail there will be and the more difficult it will be because you need to have everyone in sync. Having people off from each other can ruin the overall feel of the video.
Once the planning is done and the props are picked, begin to film. If you can get two or three cameras set up, that is ideal because you can then pull footage from all of them. However, if you only have one camera, set it up on a tripod and aim it where most of the action will be taking place. Turn audio off and then turn the song on so everyone in the video can sing along and stay in sync.

With the vide now made, upload it to the computer. Whether you are using Windows Movie Maker or iMovie is irrelevant because both work in a similar fashion. With the video file upload, you want to synchronize the video and audio. With the song and video imported, drag the song to the audio section. Then comes the editing process. You want to line up what the actors are singing with the words of the song. That is why you have them listening to the music as they do their dancing.

Upload the videos to YouTube so that people can appreciate them. Creating a music video requires precision with the actors and expert editing skills. By using Windows Movie Maker or iMovie, you can slice and cut video digitally to make it so it fits exactly right with the music.
