Many businesses have realized that a fan page on Facebook is a very inexpensive way to get more traffic to their website and to bring more customers in the front doors. By getting people to become fans, a business is able to target them, send them messages and let them know about specials and deals. Big businesses and small businesses alike have all started creating pages. Doing so isn't difficult at all.

To begin with, login to your Facebook account. You'll need an account to do this so create one if you don't already have one. Use a separate email for Facebook because you'll get a lot of email unless you go in and change your settings to receive none. Once you are logged into Facebook, click the Ads and Pages link on the left sidebar. This will take you to a page where you can buy advertising on Facebook or create pages. Click the "Create Page" link.

Select what type of page you want to create. Determine what type of page it'll be: business, artist, public figure, etc. Type in the name and if it is available, you'll be allowed to use it. If it is not, Facebook will let you know. Finally, check that you are a representative allowed to create the page. Then hit "Create Official Page." The page will be made and now you have to go in and start editing.

To begin with, add a photo by selecting the option to add profile picture. Add information pertaining to the topic of the page. If it's about your restaurant, information on your hours, location and a copy of the menu isn't a bad idea. Add information so people know who you are. The more they know, the more likely they are to become a fan and begin coming to your business.

Only after you've finished all of the work of creating the page do you then click "Publish this Page." When you do this, it will immediately publish and all of your friends will know that you've created a new page. If they want to join, they can. If not, they won't. Be sure to become a fan yourself so that it sends a second prompt to all your friends. After that, just begin advertising the page with friends so that they can begin networking for you.
