A Firefox Theme is a type of Firefox Add-On that can be installed in order to change the appearance and/or functionality of Mozilla Firefox. Firefox Themes allow users to customize the “look and feel” of their web browser without removing any of the basic functions provided by Mozilla Firefox. Firefox Themes can be created by any Firefox user, but are most commonly created by Firefox developers, and are the Firefox equivalent of Google Chrome Themes or Windows Live Themes.

How To Get Firefox Themes

Users can download and install Firefox Themes by visiting the Official Firefox Themes page and choosing a desired Theme. The user can either click on the link above each Theme image in order to view larger screenshots of the Theme and read more information about the Theme from the Author or simply click on the “Install Now” or “Continue to Install Now” button.

Users should note that if they attempt to install the Firefox Theme from any web browser other than Firefox, he/she will only be able to download the Theme’s file and will be required to install in manually within Firefox. To prevent this, the user should always download Themes and other Add-Ons from within Mozilla Firefox.

How To Create Firefox Themes

In order to create a Firefox theme, you will need to have an understanding of the CSS and RDF computer programming languages as well as some moderate graphics editing skills. A full tutorial of editing existing Firefox Themes can be found here while resources for creating Firefox Themes from scratch can be found here. If all goes right, you should be able to launch your Firefox Theme like any other by installing it and managing it from the Tools — Add-Ons menu.
