Skype is an instant messaging software that also allows users to share files, participate in audio/video calls, and personalize messages via emoticons and personal signatures. Skype is available on a wide variety of platforms, including desktop operating systems and mobile devices, and is completely free to all users. Additionally, Skype allows users to call both local and international landlines and mobile phones at extremely low rates.

How to View Skype History

Since Skype is an advanced instant messaging software, it stores all of the user’s messages in a file known as “Skype History.” Because of this file, users are able to see their recent conversation with a specific person that may go back as far as a week. In order to see all conversations with this person, a user can click the View tab, select “Recent” if it is not already selected, and click “instant messages.”

How to Delete Skype History

In order to delete Skype history:

1) Click on the Skype tab and select Preferences.

2) From here, select the Privacy tab and click “Delete history.” This may take several minutes and cannot be undone.

In addition to deleting current Skype history, users can also indicate how long they would like to store Skype history by selecting 1 month, 3 months, 1 year, or never in the “Save conversation area.”
