Like any other task manager, an Android task manager is a software that is used to start or stop processes that run on an Android phone. Although able to start tasks when an application’s icon is not working properly, an Android task manager is most commonly used to terminate processes that are not working properly or causing harm to the Android itself by, for example, causing the Android to freeze up. The following are some of the most popular task managers available for the Android:

Advanced Task Manager

Advanced Task Manager is a very popular Android task manager that runs as a super user on the Android operating system, allowing it to not only stop applications from running, but also exclude specific applications from ever running. Advanced Task Manager also displays information about the Android in a graphical user interface, such as resource usage and task management options.

Android Memory Management

Android Memory Management is an Android task manager that is designed to terminate processes whenever they are using up too much space, have not been used in awhile, or when the Android is done using them. Although the Android itself should not need a task manager to manage its default applications, Android Memory Management is useful when one is using applications from the Android Market that other users created.

Taskiller

Taskiller is a simple Android task manager that allows users to terminate processes at will. Taskiller consists of a color coded graphical user interface that allows users to see what each application is doing. Processes labeled in white are running, but are not using any resources. Processes labeled in yellow are running and are using resources. Processes labeled in gray are running in the background. Users can terminate each application by simply clicking them.

Advanced Task Killer

Advanced Task Killer is an Android task manager that is similar to Taskiller, but has many more options. Instead of clicking color coded processes, applications in Advanced Task Manager appear in a scrolling list with checkboxes that can be checked or unchecked to turn each application on or off. Advanced Task Killer includes an Ignore option that allows users to remove specific applications from the list. Additionally, Advanced Task Killer includes an icon in the notification bar to allow users to access the software at any time.
