Actiontec is a company that specializes in providing consumers with wireless products such as modems, routers, and network storage devices. Actiontec produces both cable and DSL routers as well as VDSL routers and fiber optic modems. Actiontec also produces routers compatible with the Verizon FiOS plan, which bundles multiple services together, including landline telephone access, Internet, and television. It consists of many advanced features such as accessing the web from the user’s television as well as viewing incoming telephone calls on the television screen.

Actiontec Default Password

Like other routers, all Actiontec routers include a built-in control panel that allows users to change configuration settings, setup network security, and enable the router to work with other devices. In order to access this control panel, users can enter 192.168.1.1 into any browser’s address bar. The user will then be prompted for his/her username and password, which are the default username and password printed on the bottom of the router, if the user has never accessed this control panel before. If the username and password are not printed on the bottom of the router, the user may access the router’s control panel by inputting “admin” for the username and “password” for the password.

How to Change an Actiontec Password

If the user wishes to change his/her password in order to prevent unauthorized users from accessing the router’s control panel by entering the default information, he/she can do so by logging into the router’s control panel and opening the Configuration menu. From there, the user can change his/her password by entering the old password and creating a new one. If the user cannot find the Configuration menu, he/she can run the Setup Wizard, which includes the same option.

How to Reset an Actiontec Password

If the user has forgotten his/her password, he/she can reset the Actiontec router by pushing any small, pointed object into the “Reset” button found on the bottom of the router. This will erase all content and settings on the router and allow the user to access the router’s control panel by using the default information.
