A wide variety of problems associated with the computer, ranging from software issues to complete hard drive failure, can cause Error 0x0000007e. In order to discover which component has caused the error, the user can run a number of programs to search for problems. For example, the user can run the ChkDsk program by opening the Start Menu, opening the “Run” application, and entering “chkdsk.” This application searches all of the computer’s hardware for issues. If it finds any problems, the user can then restart the application and enter “chkdsk /f” to repair the errors it found.

 

How to Fix Error 0x0000007e

If the ChkDsk application does not correct Error 0x0000007e, the user can implement a variety of other methods to determine the problem. For example, the user can use the System Restore tool found in the Windows Control Panel to restore the computer to a previous time. The user can also check all of his/her cables to ensure that they are connected properly. If neither of these methods works, the user may need to disconnect his/her hard drive and other removable devices and clean them with compressed air. If none of these other methods works, the user may need backup his/her files and re-install the operating system.
