SEN is an acronym for Sony Entertainment Network. It represents all of Sony’s online services including music, movies, games, and ebooks, all of which are accessed from a single SEN user account. This account also allows access to the Music Unlimited, Video Unlimited & PlayMemories Online.

SEN is formerly known as PSN (PlayStation Network), which only represented Sony’s gaming services. The rebranding and expansion of the network came in 2012 in an effort to consolidate Sony’s online services under a single brand, and a single user account. When the change was made existing PSN users became SEN users with their existing usernames and passwords still working. Owners of PS3 and PS Vita only received a firmware update that changed the branding.

Renaming PSN to SEN came after a widely publicized hack a year prior (2011), wherein hackers gained access to PSN user accounts causing Sony to shut the network down for several weeks until they figured out the problem and fortified the network. Sony started the effort of unifying their services in September 2011.
