MSN Web Messenger is a version of the MSN Messenger program that runs in Windows, without the need to download MSN Messenger onto the computer you're using. The advantage is that you can still use Messenger when you are away from your normal computer and using an example that doesn't have standard Messenger installed. Web Messenger has fewer features than the installed version, such as there being no display pictures or drop down emoticon menu's, but this should cause no problems in the course of an average conversation.

To open MSN Web Messenger you should visit MSN's Web Messenger web page, and click on the Start MSN Web Messenger button. You will be asked for your usual MSN messenger log in details, and once you have submitted these, the Web Messenger should appear after a few moments. If you have a pop-up blocking programme enabled, it will be necessary to adjust the blocker's settings temporarily so that it allows the Web Messenger window to install.

Once this has occurred, you should be up and running and able to chat. It may take slightly longer than usual for chat windows to open, as it is necessary for each window to install as and when it is required, but there are few if any other inconveniences when using the system.

Please note that you will not be able to view others' display pictures, or display any of your own in Web Messenger. You and they will simply see the standard MSN character as seen in the top left hand corner of the Web Messenger browser.
