We have all made mistakes using our computer where we have mistakenly deleted an item, changed an item or renamed it. While these slips of the mouse or mind can be critical at times, there are a few ways you can restore and undelete your changes in Windows. The three ways to do so is with the recycle bin, using the shortcut Ctrl + Z and using 'Undo Changes' from the menu. Here are some tips:

Using the Recycle Bin

One of the easiest ways to restore your files or documents that you inadvertently deleted is to go back to the recycle bin and restore them. Using the recycle bin is extremely easy. Just click on the recyclable bin icon or click on the 'Start' menu and then select 'Control Panel'. The recycle bin will be located with in the control panel.

Once you have the recycle bin opened, you will see a list of the latest files and folders that you have deleted. You can choose to restore every item in the recyclable bin, or click on the ones that you specifically want to restore. This tool is extremely easy to use and while it will help restore a full file that has been deleted, it does not undelete changes to a document. How to Undelete in Windows

Using the Ctrl-Z Shortcut to Easily Undo and Undelete

For those that love to use short cuts, this one is a great one to have in your arsenal. For those that would like to undo or undelete an action such as a deleted item, rename of an item or moved an item such as a file back to its original folder, the shortcut Ctrl-Z simply un-deletes the action quickly and easily.

Choosing Undo From the File Menu

If you are using certain programs such as MS Word or MS Excel and accidentally change a number or format by mistake, you can simply go into your file menu and Undo the changes. To access the Undo command, simply choose 'Edit' and then 'Undo'.

Unfortunately, mistakes will always occur, especially on a computer. However using the three tips above, you can significantly reduce the chances of major mistakes becoming permanent.
