Skype is one of the most popular online phone services. Although the service can be used for free to call other users on direct computer-to-computer connections, Skype is also used to call land lines and mobile phones. Consumers often need a subscription-based Skype service for a finite period of time when they travel to another country, for military deployments, or when working away from home. As a result, the desire to delete a Skype account arises.

How to Delete a Skype Account

Step 1 – Double click the Skype program icon on the computer’s desktop or launch it from other program shortcut locations on the computer to open the Skype application.

Step 2 – Log into the Skype account on the subsequently displayed menu.

Step 3 – Select the “Subscription Settings” menu choice located on the right section of the application screen.

Step 4 – Click “Cancel Subscription” and confirm the desire to do so by choosing “Yes” on the dialogue box displayed. Follow the default menu prompts on the subsequent menus.

Step 5 – Choose the “View Settings” menu button that will display the Skype “Auto-recharge” menu page.

Step 6 – Select the “Disable” auto-recharge menu link.

Step 7 – Log into PayPal and cancel the automatic payments in the PayPal account if setup as a “subscription payment” through PayPal as a funding source. Select “Profile” and “Pay List.” Locate the Skype payment and open it, then click “Cancel.”

Step 8 – Avoid logging into the application for a minimum of 10 days in order to complete the Skype profile removal. After the 10 day period elapses, other Skype users cannot discover it until the user logs into the program again.
